PDIP Denies Megawati-Prabowo Meeting to Discuss Hasto Kristiyanto Case
PDIP says the meeting between Megawati and Prabowo would not discuss political agreements and Hasto Kristiyanto case.
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Spokesperson for the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle () Mohamad Guntur Romli responded to the issue of the meeting between PDIP General Chair Soekarnoputri and President Subianto to discuss the case of PDI Perjuangan Secretary General .
Guntur said that the meeting would not discuss political agreements and Hasto Kristiyanto case. The meeting, said Guntur, was a momentum for national consolidation considering that the two national figures had a long track record of friendship and were bound by historical and ideological aspects.
"So that the two leaders respect and appreciate each other in their respective political positions," said Guntur in his written statement, Sunday, January 19, 2025.
Even so, Guntur said, Megawati paid full attention to the Hasto Kristiyanto case. Hasto's case was repeatedly mentioned by Megawati in several speeches in public.
On January 10, 2025, during the 52nd Anniversary of the PDI Perjuangan, for example, Megawati assessed that the KPK seemed to have no other work except to dig up Hasto Kristiyanto.
According to Guntur, Megawati Soekarnoputri as the general chair of the PDI Perjuangan would not let go, let alone wash her hands of the Hasto Kristiyanto case. Megawati, said Guntur, also compared Hasto's case with her case when she was questioned three times by the police during the New Order era.
Previously, the KPK named Hasto as a suspect in a bribery case against the Commissioner of the General Election Commission (KPU) for the 2017-2022 period, Wahyu Setiawan. Hasto was accused of actively participating in the bribery through his confidant, Donny Tri Istiqomah. In addition, the KPK also charged Hasto with the article on obstruction of investigation.
Hasto is suspected of being involved in a bribery case aimed at appointing Harun Masiku as a member of the DPR through an interim replacement (PAW) mechanism and replacing Nazarudin Kiemas who died.
The has named Harun Masiku as a suspect in the case. However, Harun has always avoided KPK investigators' summons until he was included in the wanted list (DPO) since January 17, 2020.
