1. Rupiah Display on Google Increased to Rp8,000 per US Dollar, Here is Bank Indonesia's Response

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The internet community in Indonesia was abuzz with the display of the  exchange rate on Google yesterday because it drastically strengthened to the level of Rp8,170.65 per US dollar. Based on monitoring on the Google display, the rupiah value rose sharply compared to the closing of trading on Friday, January 31, 2025.

Head of the Communication Department of Bank Indonesia Ramdan Denny Prakoso said the data displayed was incorrect. "The US$/IDR (Indonesian Rupiah) exchange rate level of 8,100 as on Google is not the level it should be," he said in an official statement, quoted Saturday, February 1, 2025.

2. Bank Mandiri Designs Financing Scheme of Up to Rp500 Million for MSME Partners of Free Nutritious Meals Program

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT  welcomes the proposal for financing of up to Rp500 million for the initial capital of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that are partners in the  program (MBG). Bank Mandiri Corporate Secretary M. Ashidiq Iswara stated that his party is currently preparing the funding scheme.

"Bank Mandiri has coordinated with the Ministry of MSMEs to design a funding scheme that is in accordance with the needs of this program," Ashidiq told Tempo on Friday, January 31, 2025. Ashihid stated that Bank Mandiri is ready to commit to ensuring that the implementation of the half a billion funding discourse runs optimally.

3. Meeting at the Weekend, DPR and President Agree to Pass BUMN Bill into Law during Plenary Session

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives ( RI) and President Prabowo Subianto have approved the draft revision of the Law on State-Owned Enterprises (RUU BUMN) to be approved in the upcoming Plenary Meeting. "Therefore, we can conclude that the eight factions in Commission VI of the DPR have approved the Bill on the third amendment to Law Number 18 of 2003 concerning BUMN to be further discussed at the level 2 plenary meeting of the DPR RI," said Chairperson of Commission VI of the DPR RI Anggia Erma Rini at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday, February 1, 2025.

The draft approved by the DPR was then responded to by Minister of Law Supratpan Andi Agtas as the representative of President Prabowo Subianto. In his conclusion, Andi stated that Prabowo approved the entire contents of the Bill. "May we represent President Prabowo Subianto in this level one meeting, the government states that it supports the BUMN Bill to be discussed further in the level two plenary meeting," said Andi.
