Indonesia's Al Azhar 4 Bekasi Student Wins Award at Asia Youth International Model United Nations
Aleshia Raihana Zahira, a student of SMAI Al Azhar 4 Bekasi, Indonesia, won an Honorable Mention award at the 16th Asia Youth International Model UN.
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Aleshia Raihana Zahira, a grade X of SMAI Al Azhar 4 Bekasi, Indonesia, won an Honorable Mention award at the 16th Asia Youth International Model United Nations (AYIMUN) event which took place on January 17-20, 2025 at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Aleshia was one of 34 delegates from SMAI Al Azhar 4 Bekasi who participated in the United Nations (UN) simulation. In the forum, she joined the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM) and acted as the Ethiopian delegate.
To accompany these young delegates, the Deputy Principal of SMAI Al Azhar 4 Bekasi, Firman Rahmani Azhar, was also present as an observer. Firman appreciated the development of the students after participating in this event. "The children gain new experiences and ideas as well as critical thinking skills. They learn to make decisions based on logical reasons, not just like or dislike," he said.
Together with 1,000 young people from 38 countries, the delegates of SMAI Al Azhar 4 Bekasi had the opportunity to hone their diplomatic skills, exchange knowledge, and improve important skills that are useful in their studies and the world of work.
Aleshia's achievement is real evidence of the competitiveness of Indonesia's young generation in international forums. This award also reflects the great potential of Indonesian students in contributing to solving global issues.
President of the International Global Network and organizer of AYIMUN, Muhammad Fahrizal, also expressed his appreciation.
