KPK Searches House in Menteng Related to Harun Masiku Case

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Corruption Eradication Commission () has searched another house in Jakarta as part of an investigation into a corruption case involving fugitive Harun Masiku. KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto said the search was still ongoing and she could not provide further details.

"That's true, there is an active search for the suspect HM case," said Tessa Mahardhika via text message, on Wednesday evening, January 22, 2025.

According to obtained information by Tempo, the search was conducted in a house at Jalan Borobudur No. 26 Menteng, Central Jakarta.

Harun's case stagnated after he went into hiding on January 8, 2020, after escaping the KPK sting operation (OTT). In January 2025, the PDIP politician will complete five years as a fugitive.

Harun has been a KPK target for allegedly bribing Wahyu Setiawan to qualify as a member of the House of Representatives (DPR). Since his disappearance after escaping from the OTT, he has remained in hiding. He is reportedly hiding in Cambodia and some say he is in Indonesia.

Five years later, the KPK named PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto as a suspect in the Harun Masiku bribery case against former KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan.

Hasto Kristiyanto was named a suspect in the Harun Masiku case based on two investigation warrants issued on December 23, 2024.

The first warrant, Sprin.Dik/153/DIK.00/01/12/2024, mentioned Hasto's involvement in a corruption act by giving gifts or promises to the Commissioner of the General Election Commission (KPU), Wahyu Setiawan, to facilitate Harun Masiku's steps to become a member of the House of Representatives from South Sumatra Constituency 1.

Meanwhile, the second warrant, Sprin.Dik/152/DIK.00/01/12/2024, stated that Hasto was also suspected of obstructing the investigation of the Harun Masiku case.
