TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Vice President Rakabuming Raka will attend the Cap Go Meh Festival celebration in Singkawang, West Kalimantan which will be held today, Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Gibran will represent President Prabowo Subianto during his working visit to Borneo Island.

Gibran's presence has been confirmed by the organizing committee of the 2025 Singkawang Chinese New Year and Cap Go Meh Festival. In a post on the Instagram social media account @festivalcapgomehsingkawang on Tuesday night, February 11, 2025, Gibran was said to have arrived in Singkawang City.

The West Kalimantan Police have also synergized with the XII/Tanjung Pura Military Command to hold a readiness briefing for securing the planned visit of Jokowi's eldest son. Head of Public Relations of the West Kalimantan Metro Police, Senior Commissioner Bayu Suseno, said that 1,400 joint personnel were deployed.

"The West Kalimantan Regional Police together with the XII/Tpr Military Command have plotted personnel to be placed in strategic locations such as Singkawang Airport, Singkawang's zero point, the Mayor's Office, and along the RI 2 route in this city," said Bayu, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, as quoted by Antara.

The series of Singkawang celebrations will be held from January 27 to February 13, 2025. The peak of the festival falls on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 or coincides with the 15th day after Chinese New Year.

This event is an important part of preserving Chinese traditions, with attractions such as a giant golden snake replica, UMKM culinary, arts and culture, a lantern parade, as well as the Ket Sam Thoi ritual and to ward off evil.
