KPK Denies Witness Intimidation in Hasto Kristiyanto Bribery Case

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) denied allegations of intimidating Agustiani Tio Fridelina (nicknamed Tio), a former convict in the Harun Masiku bribery case, during questioning related to the case involving Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Secretary General .

"If Bu Tio was intimidated, we have previously asked about the extent of the intimidation. That's because the person in question has a history of trauma and so on," said the Acting Head of the Legal Bureau of the KPK, Iskandar Marwanto, after the pretrial hearing of Hasto at the South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

Iskandar said that those who feel intimidated might change their testimony. However, Tio did not alter her testimony when being questioned by KPK investigators.

Furthermore, Tio was questioned more than three times and it was confirmed that there was no intimidation. "There was no intimidation. Up until the examination, everything was proceeding as normal and usual. There were three or more examinations. Everything was normal," he said.

Previously, Tio stated that she felt intimidated when being questioned by the KPK regarding Hasto Kristiyanto's status as a suspect. She appeared as a witness in the pretrial lawsuit regarding the validity of Hasto's suspect status.

On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, KPK investigators named two new suspects in the  case: PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and lawyer Donny Tri Istiqomah.

Earlier, KPK Chairperson Setyo Budiyanto revealed that Hasto organized and directed Donny to lobby KPU member Wahyu Setiawan in order to appoint Harun Masiku as an elected member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from the South Sumatra I electoral district.

Hasto was also suspected of instructing Donny to actively take and deliver bribe money to Wahyu Setiawan through Agustiani Tio Fridelina.
