South Jakarta Court Rejects Hasto Kristiyanto's Pretrial Motion

TEMPO.CO, JakartaJudge Djuyamto of the South Jakarta District Court rejected the pretrial motion filed by PDIP chief to revoke his suspect designation by Indonesia’s anti-corruption agency KPK in a bribery case involving former General Election Commission (KPU) Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan.

"The judge deemed the applicant’s inadmissible," the judge said while reading the verdict at the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday, February 13.

KPK named Hasto as a suspect on December 24 last year in a case involving Harun Masiku, in addition to an obstruction of justice charge.

Hasto is accused of being involved in the bribing of former KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan to allow Harun Masiku a seat in the parliament. KPK also named PDIP lawyer Donny Tri Istiqomah as a suspect.

Hasto Kristiyanto’s case is a development of the bribery KPK first investigated in 2020. In this case, Wahyu Setiawan and former Bawaslu member Agustiani Tio Fridelina and PDIP cadre Saeful Bahri have been found guilty.
