TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto ensures that s whose victories were previously challenged in the Constitutional Court will be inaugurated on February 20, 2025, bringing a total of 505 regional heads-elect set for a simultaneous inauguration after last year’s election.
“In total, there will be 505 regional heads who will be inaugurated on the 20th [of February],” Bima told Tempo via messaging application on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
The ministry is intensively engaging with several state agencies to ready the local inaugurations, including the Ministry of State Secretariat and the Presidential Palace.
A similar statement was shared by the head of the General Elections Commission (KPU), Ilfa Rosita, ensuring that regional heads whose election disputes are concluded will be inaugurated simultaneously with the other elected local leaders, according to the results of a House Commission II hearing a while ago.
Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian previously mentioned that President Subianto wishes for the elected regional heads’ inauguration to be conducted on February 20, 2025. The simultaneous inauguration is intended for the elected regional heads whose election results were not disputed in the Constitutional Court and whose lawsuits were rejected by the Court.
Prabowo’s directives were conveyed during a meeting with Commission II, KPU, the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), and the Honorary Council of Election Organizers (DKPP) held on Monday, February 3.
They held a meeting regarding the regional head elections after the Constitutional Court accelerated the schedule for the hearing of the dismissal verdict to February 4 and 5, 2025.
"The accelerated hearing on February 4 and 5 gives way for a large-scale inauguration, specifically for non-disputes and the dismissal rulings,” said Tito on Monday.
The Constitutional Court has officially completed the agenda for the dismissal verdict hearing held from February 4 to 5, 2025. In this stage of the hearing, the Constitutional Court has decided to provide an opportunity for 40 out of a total of 310 regional election dispute cases to proceed to the next stage.
